To my wife: I am sorry.

I couldn't be the man you needed. I have tried to fix this a thousand ways in my head, but the math never works out. By the time you read this, I will be out of the country. I booked a one-way ticket an hour ago. I can't face you.

You thought I was investing. You thought the late nights were for work. The truth is, I have a problem. A sickness. I gambled away the Kids' College Fund. All of it. $80,000 gone in a single night trying to chase a loss.

But it gets worse. I was desperate. I thought I could win it back. Six months ago, I forged your signature and took out a second mortgage on the house without you knowing. I lost that too.

The letters from the bank that you never saw? I was hiding them in the trunk of my car. I ran out of time. The bank is coming to Foreclose on Friday. You have 48 hours to pack. I am so sorry. I am not coming back. Don't look for me.

I left $500 in the kitchen drawer. It's all that is left. Please tell the kids I love them, even though I failed them.
